2nd week’s weigh-in

I had a little gain on the scales this week, half a pound on, but I’m not disheartened as it’s been a really rubbishy hormonal week and I know it’s not real weight.  I spent the first half of the week eating everything in sight and the second half feeling so lousy that I was eating very…

1st week’s weigh-in

Just a short one today …. I’m pleased to report that I lost 3.5lbs in group this week, by following my Slimming World/Weight Watchers mash up. I’m finding it relatively easy at the moment and I’m hoping I can keep it up. Here are some of the meals I’ve eaten this week:

Small steps, big results?

Since I stopped working I’ve noticed that my daily step count has plummeted.  I used to regularly clock up 12,000 steps a day, now I struggle to do 6,000 (and that includes giving the whippets their daily walk)!  Pretty amazing considering I had a desk job, but I guess all those walks to the coffee…

I’ve gone back to Slimming World, but …

…… I’m following Weight Watchers! If there is one thing I’m beginning to realise, after my years of half-hearted dieting, it’s that I am hopeless at following the rules.  Give me an inch and I’ll take a cake! So .….. on Friday I went back to my local Slimming World group, where the leader is…

The trials and tribulations of a Weight Watcher

Firstly, the good news ….. in the week and a bit that I’ve been following WW (or Weight Watchers as was) I have lost 2.5lbs.  Yippee. Now for the not so good news ….. I am finding WW very, very hard.  The plan is quite different to when I followed it 15 years ago and,…

I’m giving Weight Watchers another try

If there is one thing I’ve learnt over the years it’s that Slimming World just doesn’t work for me.  I wish that it did as it’s very accessible as the biggest weight loss club in my area, my friends love it (and have great success with it) and Slimming World claim that you can eat all that…

That time I gave up Palm Oil

Giving up palm oil for the month of May was very much like when my husband and I first ‘went’ vegan 5 years ago.  It was easy enough if we were happy to cook most of our food from scratch and to read every label when shopping. In the years since we converted to veganism it has…

Palm oil free

When hubby and I went vegan almost five years ago it was definitely “for the animals”, I’d been raised a vegetarian since birth and it felt like the natural next step.  For me any other benefits of veganism, say environmental or health benefits, were just a lucky by-product of my ethical decision to go plant…

Ridgeway walks (with a hangover)!

Since I last posted, we’ve had some busy weekends tackling some of the 87 miles of the Ridgeway. Walking the Ridgeway – the hangover walk On Saturday 10th we had some friends over for the evening and I had a few drinks, well I say a few drinks – I actually drank two bottles of…

90s throwback!

It all started with a chat with my hubby whilst on a gorgeous country walk around a local National Trust property. I was telling him about my love for Step Aerobics in the 90s and how it was the only aerobics class I could manage because of my lack of coordination and two left feet….
